About Clare

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one WILD and PRECIOUS life?” Mary Oliver

"From an early age I have been fascinated by movement, play and the magic of the natural world. I love people and the earth and this love drives everything I do.

I grew up in the secluded English countryside and spent my childhood roaming around covered in mud, making friends with the trees. My parents both instilled in me a fascination, love and respect for the earth that weaves through every part of my life. As a teenager/young adult I lost this connection for a while. I became consumed with the need to conform, and for a few years I gave little time or meaning to nature. Consequently I suffered and felt trapped by patterns that kept me disconnected from my true nature of love, peace and joy.

One day I left England to rediscover what I’d lost. A year of solo travel bought me to the realisation that nature always has been and always will be by spiritual home. My journey took me to the East Coast of Australia where I started practicing yoga. I felt my spirit return through sacred movement, breath and meditation. I realised that what I’d been searching for was inside me and I learnt the tools to connect with my own heart. I spent time immersing myself in the beauty of my surroundings, lounging in rivers, climbing mountains and falling asleep under the burning milky way. I fell back in love with the earth.

My passion for yoga grew as I started to understand that yoga isn’t something that we ‘do’ with our bodies, it is our natural state that we ‘are’.  Yoga is simply a coming home, a journey back to ourselves. Through the practices of asana, philosophy and meditation I have realised the true nature of impermanence and understand that we do not ‘own’ anything.  I know that my thoughts are real but not necessarily true. I have experienced the magic that happens when I think, act and speak from a place of love and trust. I believe in the power of the Earth. I believe that by living with respect, love and humility we can create a peaceful world and begin to heal the trauma of this Earth.

After a few years of dedicated practice, I completed my 200 hour teacher training under the guidance of master teacher Mathew Bergan at Dancing Warrior Yoga in Sydney in 2014. I fell in love with teaching immediately and even though the training was extremely challenging, I knew I had finally found my calling. I continued to train at Dancing Warrior Yoga for the next 4 years, completing my 500 hour Experienced teaching course within this time. I started teaching in 2014 and have dedicated my life to full-time teaching since then. I have taught at many major studios in Sydney as well as teaching yoga and mindfulness to organisations such as UNICEF and ABC Broadcasting.

I completed my 60 hour Yin teacher training with Sarah Powers in 2015 which changed my life and my practice completely. The practice of Yin, Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and mindfulness meditation gave me the tools to develop an inner ‘genuine happiness’ that was not dependent on other people or external situations.

On returning from India in February 2018 I decided to give up my home, give away most of my possessions, move into a van and travel around Australia so I could spend as much time as possible in nature and dedicate myself to nature, teaching and my personal practice. My intention is to share my love for yoga, people and the Earth as far and wide as possible whilst living in the most sustainable way possible.

Fundamentally I believe in love. I believe that humans are inherently loving, compassionate, generous and kind. I know that we all have the capacity to open our bodies, minds and hearts and live joyfully. My intention is to facilitate a space where others can be free and learn to fall in love with themselves, each other and the earth."

Testimonials

I recently had the opportunity to attend Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training with Clare Lovelace in St Peters at the Dancing Warrior Yoga Studio – Clare is a one of the our earth’s old souls – she taught us with an open heart, love and acceptance. I feely truly transformed by attending her class. Her teaching style, wisdom and knowledge are a credit to the yoga community. I would recommend that if you have a chance to attend a workshop, teaching training course, class or even just get some time with one of the worlds great teachers, Clare Lovelace , take it!

“What a special and absolutely inspiring goddess Clare is. Not only does she talk the talk, more importantly she walks the walk – Clare is 100% in the arena with you and this makes her totally relatable, real and trustworthy.
I always walk away from her classes feeling connected and centred, usually having also learnt something about life, myself and / or the finer workings of a physcial pose.
Clare creates a safe space in her classes that means you are able to fully go within and explore your inner world on a physical and non-physical level.
Her passion for yoga (both yin and otherwise) is infectious and I always look forward to any class or workshop that I enrol into with her.”

"I’ve been attending Clare’s classes for over a year now, and she is such a beautiful and inspiring yoga teacher! I also recently attended her Yin & Mindfulness Immersion 50 hour teacher training, and it was such a well thought out program, and so thoughtfully delivered day by day. I left the immersion feeling thoroughly inspired to keep on learning and practicing, and to start teaching yin and it’s also really revitalised my personal meditation practice. Thank you so much again for facilitating such a beautiful workshop Clare and for all of your amazing classes!"

“Finding the right teacher for me is as important as the yoga practice itself and so, to have found Clare has been a true joy.
She is an authentic, nurturing and inspiring teacher who strikes a beautiful balance of movement and breath, body alignment and individual tuition. I love that Clare gently challenges us to achieve our best each lesson.
Her choice of music and snippets of inspirational verse at lessons’ end offer an added dimension to our practice.
She is a beautiful spirit with a strong commitment to social justice and I count myself extremely fortunate to have been taught by such a passionate and lovely person. I would encourage anyone embarking on a yoga practice to find Clare! ”

“I really enjoy the pace that Clare sets for each of her gentle yoga classes and the way that she encourages us to gradually build on each pose in a relaxed and calm way so that we feel comfortable and at ease as we move through the postures in a way that suits our own individual levels. I had enjoyed practising yoga for many years but simply gave it away when the ageing process seemed to take over – I’m 67 . With damage to one of my knees I wasn’t able to bend my knees as easily as before, and with awful bunions and bumps and bulges on both my feet I wobbled and swayed most inelegantly when attempting to balance on one foot. Then one day I decided to try yoga once again, and I went along to Clare’s yoga in March last year – and I’ve loved every one of her classes since then.

I noticed my overall health gradually improving to a point where I feel healthier and am able to do the yoga exercises more easily. My body isn’t as ‘stiff’ as it was and I’m standing straight and tall – and I can even balance on one foot …. for a very short time. As for my general wellbeing I feel content and more confident within myself.”

“I started yoga a couple of years ago in my 60’s with some previous experience and plenty of reservations. My plan was to do lots of classes to improve my strength and flexibility. One of the teachers  was Clare, l was impressed with her commitment and often found her classes almost mesmerising. She seems to be able to achieve a balance between her desire to share her own passions and discoveries at an exacting personal level while ensuring that students are supported, informed while being ‘kind to themselves’ . Her  movements are well paced,  fluid and refined, providing a perfect backdrop to her clear instructions. Her voice is easy to listen to, explanations are comprehensive enough to follow without watching her. Her continual observation of students throughout the class ensures  that she provides relevant feedback/ information  that students need to self correct without feeling inadequate. From the moment you see her welcoming smile until a final amazing Om or the often dramatic resonating sounds of the ringing bowl Clare provides a delightful, nurturing and fulfilling class.”
